Culturally sensitive withdrawal management services provided at home or through outreach.
The Riverstone First Nations Outreach Team encompasses cultural and community involvement in its approach to providing substance use treatment and recovery services. In partnering with Aboriginal leaders, health care providers and families, we are aligning with the cultural perspective of healing alongside each community.
The team provides withdrawal management (detox) services, including:
- Medically supervised withdrawal management from alcohol and other drugs
- Assessment
- Medical and nursing care
- Counselling
- Preparation for treatment programs
- Referrals and service navigation support for social and health services
- Harm reduction
Trained addictions counsellors provide outreach services to individuals in their home or other preferred location.
How our services work
Although some people want to detox right away when they make this important decision, it is crucial that they have a full medical assessment with the physician first for their safety and success during home-based detox.
If a client does not have a safe home free of drugs, nor a support person that can stay with them while they detox, we will refer them to the Kinghaven Treatment Centre or the Firth Residence in Abbotsford where the Riverstone team can medically monitor their detox progress during their short-term stay in the facility.
